Meet the Educator

Dr. Andre Benito Mountain is a nationally recognized educator, author, and the 2024 EPIC Educator. He currently serves as Director of Education for The Hip Hop Museum in the Bronx, where he leads culturally responsive programs that engage youth through creativity and community. As a former principal in metro Atlanta, Dr. Mountain launched a school garden that became more than a teaching tool—it became a space for connection. The project brought students, families, and staff together, supporting hands-on science instruction while promoting wellness, responsibility, and pride. Driven by a passion for experiential learning, Dr. Mountain designs programs that help students grow through meaningful, real-world activities. This course shares the story, strategies, and impact of the garden—and shows how you can plant something just as powerful in your own school.
