With a career spanning over three decades, his music has explored themes of identity, perseverance, systemic injustice, and the everyday realities of Black life in America. His work has been studied in university classrooms and praised for its depth, nuance, and literary quality. Dr. Andre Benito Mountain is an award-winning educator, author, and the 2024 EPIC Educator. As a former principal and current Director of Education at The Hip Hop Museum in the Bronx, Dr. Mountain has dedicated his career to building culturally responsive spaces where students thrive through literacy, creativity, and critical thinking. Together, Masta Ace and Dr. Mountain created The Hip Hop Lit Lab: Volume 1—a groundbreaking educational resource that bridges Hip Hop and literacy instruction.
